Coffee - It's Origins

The story begins in 9th-century Ethiopia with a goat herder named Kaldi, whose goats became unusually energetic after eating some red berries. Curious, Kaldi tried them himself and discovered the first buzz of caffeine! Local monks brewed the berries into a drink to help them stay awake during long prayers, and coffee was born.

Coffee’s Journey Around the World

From Ethiopia, coffee travelled across the Arabian Peninsula, becoming a daily staple by the 15th century. By the 17th century, it spread across Europe, sparking the rise of coffee houses. These became hubs of conversation, culture, and creativity. England’s coffee houses were even nicknamed “penny universities”, where, for a penny, people could enjoy coffee and intellectual discussions.

Today, coffee has become an integral part of modern life worldwide, from quick espresso shots to slow-brewed pour-overs. It’s more than just a drink; it's a ritual that has connected people for centuries.
